 WILDERNESS MEDICINE

Wilderness First Responder Trainings (WFR)

We are offering a WFR certification and recertification courses in May of 2025 in conjunction with Beyond Limits Education and Wilderness Medical Associates. This is 3 year certification for outdoor professionals and those who want to know how to take care of medical emergencies in the back country.  Both of these courses are being offered as Hybrid courses, meaning that the coursework is done online before coming to the lodge.  Course time at the lodge will be hands-on skills and emergency scenarios. This type of course allows you to be away from home or work for a shorter period of time.

Hybrid WFR Recert – May 10-11, 2025,  Course Cost: $500 (Requires approximately 12 hours of online coursework prior to course)
Hybrid WFR Course – May 12-16, 2025,  Course Cost:$850 (Requires approximately 30 hours of online coursework prior to course)

 LEARN A CRAFT

Timber framing Workshop

Join a local expert craftsman, Land Cole of Windy Pass Woodcraft for an introduction to Timber Framing. Students will get hands-on instruction to learn the techniques while building a 12×16 timber framed structure that will serve as an event stage at the lodge. This is an introductory course that will focus on TF joinery, basic design, hand and power tool use with the intent of providing students with the ability to build their own simple TF project.

Course Price: $700/person. Lodging/Camping pricing below.
                                                                                                          Lodging: We’ll have limited lodging available at the lodge with special discounted pricing for this course. We’ll have 3 rooms and 2 dry cabins available and shared kitchen spaces for meals. If people are interested, we can arrange a group cooking plan as the course gets closer.  Rooms can be shared with one other individual and will have two beds. Price for private room or cabin $150/night. Price for shared room or cabin $75/night.
                                                                                                        Camping: Camping on the lodge property is available at $20/night (includes outhouse and wifi) and we are surrounded by public land with plenty of great free camping. 

PHOTOGRAPHY

Winter Aurora and Mushing Photography Workshop

Explore the best that Alaska has to offer in the winter with this photographic adventure that combines landscape and aurora photography with outdoor adventure photography and the adventure skills of Dog mushing and snowmobiling.

Enjoy expert photographic instruction with Carl Johnson of Alaska PhotoTreks. Photo subjects will include mountain landscapes, aurora borealis, and dog mushing.

During the time at the lodge, half of the group will drive dog teams, while the other half goes out on snowmachine to photograph the teams in action. At a halfway point, we will trade places so that each group has the chance to drive a dog team and photograph dog mushing in the landscape each day.
